I spent the day in Clitheroe, starting at The New Inn, a historic pub full of character, before heading to The Emporium, a converted chapel with a relaxed, multi-level layout. At Holmes Mill, the vast Beer Hall blended industrial heritage with a huge beer selection. The Horseshoe Inn felt like a proper local, while The Beer Shack offered a compact micropub experience. The Ale House stood out for its lively feel and friendly chat, and I finished at The Brown Cow, a traditional spot that rounded off a varied and memorable visit.

I spent the day hopping between Rawtenstall, Waterfoot and Burnley, calling in at a mix of micropubs, taprooms and craft bars. Everywhere felt friendly and relaxed, often set in old shops or historic buildings that have been given a new purpose. I drank some cracking beer along the way, mostly cask, with plenty of choice wherever I went, and had some really nice chats with the people behind the bars. It was an easy, unhurried day, moving between places, settling in for a pint, and enjoying spots where conversation comes naturally and time just seems to drift.

A great pub fan for any home fan taking in a match at Turf MoOr coming in by train to Burnley Central. It starts at the Bridge Bier Huis which is popular matchday haunt.t’s only a ten minute walk to Turf Moor too meaning it’s very handy if you like to arrive at the ground just in time for kick-off. It also takes in the The New Brew-m which offers a £2 pint on a match day while also taking in a Wetherspoon before heading off to Turf Moor.

A short pub crawl for any away fan visiting Turf Moor. Burnley is different in that it allows mixing of home and away fans but these pubs are the best of the bunch and allocated away pubs. The Bridge Bier Huis is great selling Belgian and German beers and next taking in a Wetherspoon before going to Burnley Cricket Club which is a stones throw from the stadium.

A quick crawl for any away supporters visiting Ewood Park coming in from Blackburn train station. It begins at The Postal Order for a quick cheap pint as it is a Wetherspoon before trekking down to the The Golden Cup and then The Fernhurst (widely known as the away pub) before entering Ewood Park.

A short but fun pub crawl for any Blackburn Rovers fan taking in a match at Ewood Park. It starts at The Vic which is a stones throw from Blackburn train station before stopping at The Postal Order a great Wetherspoon and then heading to The Navigation Inn which is great for real ales at a very reasonable price before entering Ewood Park.
You've seen it all! 🍻
Close enough for a change of scene.
