I spent the day exploring York’s pubs, bars, and drinks spots, each packed with history and character. I started at York Tap in the old station tearooms before heading to both House of the Trembling Madness venues, each quirky in their own way. I sampled rum at Villains Rum, browsed gin at York Gin, and visited unique pubs like The Blue Bell, Golden Ball, and The Falcon. Stops like Brew York, Market Cat, Valhalla, and Spark showed off York’s modern craft scene, while places like Pivni, Walmgate Alehouse, and The Ackhorne oozed old-world charm. I started my Scarborough pub wander at North Riding Brew Pub, then called into The Black Swan Hotel and The Spa before heading to The Alma Inn. From there I stopped at Craft Bar and Brew + Bao, both great spots for a drink. Scholars Bar was next, followed by Cask & Keg and the welcoming Valley Bar. After crossing town I dropped into the cosy Stumble Inn and the tiny Edwin’s Home Brew Beer to try a few of their own brews. My final stop was BellyRub Bar, where I enjoyed a pint and a steak wrap before catching the train home. A really good day out hopping between a handful of pubs across Bridlington, Driffield, Beverley and Cottingham. Nothing rushed, just steady trains, short walks and plenty of well-kept beer along the way. Each place had its own feel, from tiny micropubs to slightly bigger bars, but all were relaxed, friendly and easy to settle into. The beer choice was spot on everywhere, with decent cask options, interesting keg lines and a few cracking pints that really stood out. Even better was bumping into familiar faces and having a proper chat over a drink.
